Charges against Alec Baldwin dropped in the fatal on-set "Rust" shooting

Alec Baldwin has been cleared of all criminal charges in connection with the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the Rust film set.

The Hollywood star was being charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter by Santa Fe prosecutors.

At least five civil cases against Baldwin and the Rust producers are still pending.

An assertion from Baldwin’s legal counselors, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, said: ” We support a thorough investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident and are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin.

However, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, a weapons supervisor, is being pursued by Santa Fe prosecutors for involuntary manslaughter. She has denied the charges.

It comes after Baldwin asked a judge earlier this month to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the parents and sister of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The entertainer said Olga Solovey, Anatolii Androsovych, and Svetlana Zemko documented the suit to “acquire remuneration” following Ms. Hutchins’ demise in October 2021.
After the 42-year-old cinematographer was killed while filming on the film’s set outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, in February, her family filed the lawsuit.

Battery, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and loss of consortium are all included. Loss of consortium occurs when a plaintiff seeks redress for harm done to a relationship on which they are both dependent.

Ms. Hutchins was killed when the gun Baldwin, 65, was practicing with went off, wounding director Joel Souza.

The star has denied any wrongdoing on multiple occasions and previously pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter, both of which have since been dropped.

The entertainer was likewise sued by Ms. Hutchins’ better half, Matthew Hutchins, their child, and domain, asserting that crazy way of behaving and cost-slicing prompted her demise.

In October 2022, a settlement was reached outside of court.
