Divine Ikubor, alias Rema, a well-known musician, has clarified his contentious words in the famous song “Holiday.”
In his song “Holiday,” the artist talked of taking a friend’s laptop during his tough times in Benin, leading to accusations that he was glorifying criminality.
Rema clarified that it was regrettable that some people took it to mean glorifying theft in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos.
The lyric was adequate to describe the entire situation, he claimed. Not really that profound. Although I don’t want to praise theft, it was just unfortunate that it occurred at that moment.
Rema also addressed the misunderstandings around the cover art for his album “Rave & Roses,” which features an upside-down burning home.
“Many people had a lot of misconceptions [about the album cover], they thought it was a church,” he claimed. They claim that every structure with a cross on it is a church. Not a church, that is. An incarnation of me with a cross and flames served as the basis for the cover image. Actually, the entire home kind of represents me.
